Follow The Yellow Brick Road: March

We are continuing our wonderful trip around Knoxville with a tour of World's Fair Park! Let's first talk about Christina Hendricks.

Ms. Hendricks was born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1975. He father work for the Forest Service and they moved around a lot. It does not appear that she spent much time here, they moved when she was two months old. She is most well know for her role of Joan Holloway in the show Mad Men.

The movie we are looking at the she starred in is Crooked House.

The death of the head of a million dollar house hold causes the family members to start pointing fingers you are in for a wild mystery. Everyone has something to gain and everyone has something to loose. The money can help and hurt everyone. No one trusts each other but they all need each other to get the money.

I really loved this film! I really want to watch it again. I love a good mystery and the ending was really something that I didn't see coming at all. Mysteries like this are really had to come by. The ones that really keep you guessing are crazy to figure out!

In 1982 Knoxville got to host the wonderful World's Fair. If you have ever watched Meet Me In St. Louis you will know what I am talking about. There was a lot of stuff going on in Knoxville during that time, and this year marks the 40 year anniversary. The Park was built and opened to hold all of the wonderful booths and people that were coming to visit.

Some wonderful things now stand inside this wonderful park.

The statue of Sergei Rachmanioff was sculped by Victor Bokarov in the early 2000s. Rachmanioff was a world renowned Composer, Pianist, and conductor. In 1943 he came to Knoxville and gave his last performance at the University of Tennessee. He would pass a few weeks after this recital. Mr. Bokarov greatly appreciates Rachmanioff's work and sculped this work and gave it to Knoxville to commemorate where his last performance was.

This memorial has been around since the Early 2000s as well. After years of research the memorial has every soldier who passed during during a time of was since World War I. The day that I went to the park it was full of people doing a marathon. However, going to the memorial it was very peaceful. It was weird to walk through a sea of people to turn a corner and just have a little peaceful place.

Not very far from the Park is the East Tennessee Art Museum. It's a great gallery of some great art work. They do have exhibits that are permanent and those that change out every once in a while. The other great thing is that it's free.

I will say I am glad that I actually walked around Word's Fair Park more because I have been down there but not really walked around. I know that there wasn't much to look at this time around but I know that there will be more to do as time goes on.
