The Man Behind The Curtain: December

Last post of the year you guys!

I am so happy that I have gotten to finish this year off, and I have some wonderful plans with friends tonight! I pray that you all have a safe, happy, and wonderful new year!

The last movie that we will cover this month is Last Holiday

Georgia Byrd is a young woman who wishes that she could live her life the way that she had always dreamed. However, her life is not dreamlike. When an accident at work lands her in a CAT Scan for her head, she learns that she is doing to die in a few weeks time. When she hears this new she decides that she is going to do everything that she was too scared to do. She goes her to dream vacation spot, does things she would have never considered doing before, and influences that other people around her as she while doing so. She is confused why her life all of the sudden changes for the better just as she is about to die.

This is not a movie that get wildly talked about. Which is odd because I think that this movie is so cute! I love how Georgia comes out of her shell when she decides to pursue life instead of hiding behind it. What I really love though is that while she thinks that she is going to do, and starts doing crazy big things, she see beauty in the small things in life. Like the design of the ceiling, and the beauty of doing simple things you love.

That one of the things I love, and I am blessed to be reminded of almost every day. My favorite sound is that of loose cobblestones rubbing together as you walk on them. My favorite favorite smell is a tie between the smell of Honeysuckle in the wind during a summer day, or the faint sent of cigar/cigarette smoke mixed with the summer heat. I love wishing on dandelions and stars. I love the site of city lights at night. Rain against a window pane. Being pinned in the corner by my niece and nephews playing dinosaurs. As much as want big things to happen to us in life, its the little things that make a life worth living.

Come Forward: December

We are finally at the end of 2024.

I am not happy to see the end of the year but I'm not mad about it either. I have a lot of things going to happen in the new year and I can't wait for it to get started.

There are also things coming up the make me nervous, and also dreading the start of the year. However, the are the same things that I now once I am in the middle of doing them, they will be fun.

First, let's get this last movie out of the way for being authentic.

Miles Teller plays a young man who wants to be a famous drummer in a band. His instructor, J.K. Simmons, is unruly and a tyrant who wants nothing more than to win.

Look, I have heard some great things about this movie, but I honestly didn't really care. I thought it was ok but not the most wonderful movie ever to be made.

I personally thing how the instructor motivates people is overbearing, there is a lot of motivation in the movie. Some of it because both characters are self centered, and general awful human beings, but they have a lot of motivation. Yet, Teller's character gets to a point where everything goes wrong in his life and he gives up playing the drums for a time. However, one day he does pull them back out and tries again.

Trying one thing is my tip. When everything feels like is bad, crazy, and never going to happen, just try one thing. Write one sentence, find one puzzle piece, something the part that is really overwhelming is picking up where you left off.

It may not get you going full force, but at least you said you worked on it. Sometimes that's all that needed.
