In 1995 the world witnessed on of the most interesting trials of all time. It dealt with murder, hatred, and unspeakably horrible situation ever to happen in human history. However, it was not the people that demonstrated these acts that is one trail. The trial was between Deborah Lipstadt, a professor and author of the Holocaust, and David Irving, an author and Holocaust denier. The charges are against Lipstadt for Libel because she "publicly discredited him and hurt his reputation" but to prove her right to win the case she must prove that the Holocaust did happen.
One of the most in depth and fascinating movies of the whole year. Again, it's one of those movies that has come out this year that is based off a true story and I am wondering why we didn't learn about it in school. Typically when there is a trial, the trial becomes history, in this film History is literally on trial. I think that the thought process behind winning the case was insightful, and the facts that are presented about the Holocaust, are truly heartbreaking. It's a movie that give your hope for humanity.
