Tom Hanks Hustle: Here

 It's been a minute!

Tom Hanks had he first movie release in a year, and I am "here" for it!

Tom Hanks and Robin Wright reunite once again for another movie about life, love, and how lives moves in some spaces.

I am always excited about a new Tom Hanks movie, but I will say I was more excited when I learn about how this movie was shot. I now of two movies that are show in one continuous motion, Birdman and Rope. I have never heard of a movie that is shot from one stationary camera angle. It never moves from the spot that it starts.

When I first heard of this movie and started telling people about it I was saying that it's about a family and how their lives grow though the lens of one camera, and how live works around it. However, I found out quickly it's not about one family. It about how life revolves around one spot, one view, in one place, of this whole big world. It shows how the world has moved thought history of this one spot since the dawn of time. Now, before you think that it's done chronologically, it's not. They edit this movie so that all of the stories that are seen in this spot relate to each other. It's a nice way to show that we have all loved, lost, and move on in a number of different ways in the whole history of the world. Times, change, but there are always big landmarks in our lives that we all share.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this story or not, but it surprised me. I loved seeing how the world unfolded around this spot, and how full, crazy, sad, and wonderful everyone's lives are. Things change and things stay the same. No life can't all be lived in the same spot, but so much life happens in spots you don't seem to like of, like your living room.

I would totally see this movie again, and recommend it to anyone who would like to see a new way of shooting a movie as well.

Tom Hanks Hustle: Asteroid City

Welcome back to a long awaited Tom Hank Hustle! It has been over a year since the legendary Tom Hanks has been on the silver screen! The last movie being A Man Called Otto. That drama drove me and my friends to tears when we saw it and today we are getting an opposite effect.

The always impressive, Tom Hanks stars in a straight faced comedy called Asteroid City.

The star studded film is about an oddball group a people the come together for a space and mathematics type of competition. The geniuses that compete are teenagers from all over the country coming together in the middle of no where, a place name Asteroid City. The city is named after the object that feel from the sky over 5000 years ago and is still sitting in the middle of the sand where it first landed. Well, that is what they play is about. The movie is actually showing the play and how the play was made at the same time. You get the story of how it was created and the creation simultaneously.

The characters are a string of eclectic people become an odd group of friends, and government hostages for a little while? There is a movie star a family that lost their mom, teenagers that are trying to be noticed, and soldiers that are there to judge the competition. As they are all getting to know each other a strange thing happens on the day of judgment when an alien comes down and takes the asteroid. No talking, no crazy attack, just come out of a spaceship and awkwardly picks up the rock, and leaves. Sending everyone in the city into confusion and, ultimately, lock down.

All the while this is happening the star of the show how no idea what the purpose of the show is. So, he leaves the play and talks to the director of the show, who really doesn't have an answer for him. The star asks "Am I doing this right". The director doesn't really give him much of a helpful answer and then they go about the rest of the play.

It's been a long time since I have been genuinely confused by a movie that I didn't understand why it was made. Asteroid City made me question what was happening the whole way through. Even when you think that you are going to get an answer it just leaves you more confused about everything than you were before.

I will say this, the film is hilarious. Yes, you are confused but at least you get to have fun while you have no idea why you have subjected yourself to the insanity. The humor is as dry as the desert it's set in, but every line is delivered in such a way that you can't help but crack a smile and roll you eyes. When the cast not only has the Tom Hanks but Scarlett Johannsson, Edward Norton, Bryan Cranston, Jason Schwartzman, and Steve Carroll it's got to be able to deliver that kind of humor without falling flat. Again, you fall into confusion as to why this film was created but you enjoy almost every minute of it.

While Mr. Hanks was not the soul focus of the film he is great at helping to move the plot forward, and delivering utter frankness and logic to the other characters that help to reach conclusion faster. However, there is one shot in the film when they are introducing as the character in the play where his is sitting in a director's chair that he looks amazing! It's a very quick look of him but it's a beautiful shot and one that will last in my mind for long time.

Would I recommend that movie to other people? Yes, if they are someone that likes artsy type films and wants to do more a study. If someone wants to escape for a few hours and not have to think about a movie I don't think this is the one for them. If you are someone the wants a solid conclusion, a happily ever after, or just to not leave the theater questioning the movie, I would pick something else. However, if you want to ponder why you gave a few hours of your life to a movie I would say that you would enjoy this film..

Tom Hanks Hustle: A Man Called Otto

So, Tom Hanks has had a very good year. This is the fourth movie that he has come out this year! I mean if you are gonna pick anyone to watch all of their movies from start to finish it might as well be someone who is as wonderful, and fantastic, as Mr. Tom Hanks.

This is the story of a Man Called Otto  who is trying to figure out his life after the death of his wife. Otto is trying his best to continue living after the great love of his life passes, but finds that he is struggling a lot more than he thought he would be. He is so devastated that he tries to take his own life through the whole film. However, unlikely characters come into his life during the darkest moments and inadvertently saves him from himself. Through these characters he learns that family may not be the people who you chose to be in your life, but sometimes they come from unexpected places.

I know that this is a remake of Swedish film called A Man Called Ove. That film was based off of a novel with the same name written by Fredrick Backman. I got the opportunity to see this film twice while it was in theaters, and I loved it. I wasn't really sure when I was going to think about this film. It's the first really serious dramatic role that I can remember that Mr. Hanks had in recent memory. I was really surprised by how much heart this movie had. I was also shocked by how funny it was as well. It's not overly comedic but it balanced out the seriousness of the film. I think the film did a great job of showing what life is for those in mourning. I have been told for basically my whole life that healing is not linear. Truth be told, very few things in life are linear. It seems nothing really is at the point anymore common core math has become a thing! You can find a different kind of love and family even if the person you love most has passed. Loving more people doesn't mean that you loved one person less. I mean, if we are going to be honest, just because someone is not in your life anymore doesn't mean you stop loving them. That could be that you are no longer speaking, or in death, you can still love someone from afar. Love doesn't really know any bounds. It might change how you get to love someone, meaning that if they are not near you physically then you can't talk to them, or hug them, everyday. It just means you have to be more creative about the why you have to show them love. Once way Otto does it in the film is by visiting his wife's grave at least once a week. "Not even death can stop true love, it only delays it a little while" is one of my favorite lines from the movie The Princess Bride. The old I get the me I realize that that is very much true.

The more films that I watch by the great Tom hanks the more I find him to be one of the most versatile and inspiring actor that I have seen. He has done just about every type of genre that you can do. The only movies that he has been in that have been "bad films" are ones where the writing is not up to snuff, not his acting capabilities. Mr. Hanks' abilities as an actor has really become the hallmark of a great movie over the years. He has been part of so many special classic movies, and the fact that he does an amazing job of bringing characters to live, it's almost guaranteed that any movie he is in is going to be a great film. There are not many actors that you can say that is true for. Not even for the classic actors that I love so much.

I know that we have a little bit before the next Tom Hanks for comes out but I know that it's going to be well worth the watch when it does come out. I feel like that's one thing I love about movies, you never know when one is going to change your life, or your perspective.

Tom Hanks Hustle: Pinocchio

SURPRISE! I am not going to lie I didn't think that we were going to be getting another Tom Hanks movie this year! I knew that Mr. Hanks was going to be in the new Pinocchio movie, but I didn't think that it was going to be released this year, or just on Disney+.

Geppetto is man who has lost his whole family. He is struggling to survive and is just trying to get by with his hobbies and with his pets. One night be made a puppet and names him Pinocchio. That same night he sees that the moon is actually the wishing moon. He makes a wish for Pinocchio to become a real boy.  The Blue Fairy comes to visit and grants his wish. However, just gave him a soul. In order for him to not be made of wood, and to really be a real boy he must learn what how to be honest, brave and selfless.

I think that Tom Hanks was just so sweet in this movie! I mean he was adorable and loving and kind. He just wanted to have someone to take care of again and it was such a joy to watch him in this film. It's been a very long time since I watched the animated Pinocchio movie and because of that I really didn't remember much about Geppetto. However, from the start the what I remember of Geppetto, Tom Hanks was a perfect for this role. Now. the movie is a little bit scary, for the younger audience, but its still a very sweet and wonderful movie. It also just proves that Tom Hanks can be many different people in the span of a year.

Tom Hank Hustle: Elvis (2022)

The last few years I have constantly looked at what movies Tom Hanks was going to be doing next. Since I started this project, IMDB has listed an "untitled Elvis Project" has been listed. Knowing how much Tom Hanks loves Elvis I was so excited to see what he was going to be doing, and when it was going to come out. With how often that I looked, I was really shocked the this movie snuck up on me a little bit.

Let me tell you.... it was well worth the wait....

Elvis. The number one most sold solo artist in history. Everyone has a story of him, or they have told the story of him. However, there is no story of Elvis that doesn't include the Story of Colonel Tom Parker. Parker was Elvis's manger, for most of his life and career. Col. Parker is know as crook, and scoundrel, and to some, as the man who killed Elvis Pressley. We get the chance to hear the story of Elvis from the name to brought him to the world. The man the made him a legend, and the man that used Elvis to get ahead in life.

Have you ever experienced anything that you thought would be good and then just in the middle of it you knew that you were watching something truly special? It doesn't have to be a movie but like a concert, or a play? That like you knew this was going to be a big deal? Like maybe not now but in the future it was going to be something of legend? I have seen this movie twice. I haven't seen anything like this movie.

I have talked in the past about the fact that Mr. Hanks so so good in his roles that I can forget that he is playing a role. This is no exception. I totally forget that Mr. Hanks is playing Col. Parker. He is that good. The first like few seconds of seeing him, and hearing his voice, I was shocked and then got over it. Austin Butler as Elvis.... is insanely good. Like it's the closest I will ever get to experiencing the "mania" over Elvis. I like Elvis! I great up with his music, I own it myself. I have seen many of his films but I have never gotten what it was like when Elvis was the biggest thing ever. Watching it in a movie, a very well done movie.. I get it.

This movie is hard to explain with you just going to see it. It's like an Elvis Pressley Comic book come to life. I mean, if this movie is not nominated to a bunch of awards at the Oscars I will loose my mind.

I will even go a step further. This will a movie to look back on. I would not be surprised if this movie became a classic film one day.

Tom Hanks Hustle: Finch

It's been a very long time since we have gotten to talk about the incredible Tom Hanks! Covid really did, and still has in many ways, pushed back lots of movies. I know that there are two movies that were supposed to come out that now don't have release dates. This movie was supposed to come out in like 2021, I think. However, it was never released in theaters. It's only on Apple TV. I really didn't want to get Apple TV for a month just so I can watch one movie, but 2021's Best Picture Winner is also only on there so I got it and this movie surprised me.

Finch is a man that is doing something that is impossible.... surviving in the apocalypse. This scientist turned survivalist is about to run out of luck. The Ozone layer is basically gone and being in the sun will burn you to death. Finch spends time outside to find food, and other things needed for survival. One of the things he is looking for is food for her beloved pet. When we meet Finch in his lab we learn he is trying to make a machine, that can learn, so it can help him take care of the dog. Finch is dying from radiation poisoning. He doesn't have much time left and has no one to take care of his dog for the rest of his days. Thus, Jeff is created and comes to life. We join Jeff on what it like to be human and how to deal with life and death, no matter the circumstances.

This movie has been in the works for a while. I thought that I was going to be a crazy action movie that would deal with zombies or something like that. However, Tom Hanks is the only person seen in the whole movie. He was a wonder to watch and see how he really can carry a movie alone, and how it made these inanimate objects a personality, and rally make you think they are really leaning what is means to be human.

Is it my favorite Tom Hanks movie? No, but if someone was interested in watching it I would tell them it worth it to watch. I don't think I would tell someone to go out of their way to watch it but if they have Apple TV and a few hours to kill, yeah go for it!

The Tom Hanks Hustle: News of the World

I don't think that i have ever been more happy to write about a movie. The last six months of my life I have been waiting for things to happen. In the time that it has taken me to wait I have had to adjust to what was going on. I am no different than everyone else in the world because the whole world has had to adjust. The reason that I am so happy to be writing about News of the World is because my beloved Regal Movie Theaters has finally re-opened their doors after a six month closure! I have also been waiting for this movie to come out. I know that it did come out at Christmas but I was not willing on paying the money that the streaming services wanted me to pay because I could see it in the theater for cheaper. However, I am very honored that the first movie that I got to see on my welcome back trip to the movies was a Tom Hanks film.

Captain Kidd is a news man, but not in your tradition sense. He travels from city to city reading the stories in Newspapers from all over the country, and even the world. He gathers his stories and travels to different parts of Texas in order spread the word and make a living. While heading to the next city if finds a wagon that has been turned over and the driver murdered. When he is just about to bury the driver and move on he spots a 10 year old girl. While trying to figure out why she is there he discovers that she has been living with the Kiowa tribe for most of her life. That she was taken by them when she was very young and had been raised by them. The paperwork the driver was carrying says that he was trying to get her to her Aunt and Uncle. Kidd takes her to the nearest town and finds that someone who can help is not going to be back for another three months. He decides that he will be the one who will reunite her with her family as he travels with the News of the World.

In all of my knowledge of movies, and all of the interests that I have, I am constantly shocked by westerns. I am not sure why but I feel like when someone wants to watch one I always have dread because I don't think they are going to be that good. I think that they are going to drag on, or just be a lot of shooting of guns, and that's it. However, I am always proven wrong when it comes to them. There is always something interesting, or some drama. It's never what I think that it's going to be. This movie was no exception.

What I loved about this movie is that you get the always amazing Tom Hanks on another journey of self discovery in his character. You would think that a many with so many hats would find it hard to come connected with another character. However, he does it well. There is this pain that you notice from the second he is on the screen that he hides and shows at just the right time. There is the self doubt, and the anger. The heartache and even the joy that shines ever so slightly though is done really well. Mr. Hanks is not one of those actors that is stuck in one role. He known for many different roles, and has many favorites among fans. However, not many actors can suspend you belief and separate himself from every other character that he has played. I know him as the voice of Woody. I was very young when that movie came out. Then I knew him from A League of Their Own and thought that I could never take him seriously after that. Mr. Hanks is just like a western.... he shocks me every time.

There is this story that I heard several years ago about the film Meet Me in St. Louis, about how Judy Garland was the star of the movie but everyone came out talking about Margaret O'Brien. Ms. O'Brien basically stole the whole show from Ms. Garland even though the whole show was perfectly matched with Ms. Garland (whole other story that I won't talk about right now). I will be more shocked if this movie does not have the over whelming mention on Ms. Helena Zengel. Ms. Zengel plays that 10 year old in this movie. I will say that I have never had a child surprise me with such a well done performance! I think what really impressed me about her performance the most was how well she had to use her facial expression and her body language in the film. She wasn't silent, but she hardly spoke any English in film either. Her character was raised by the Kiowa tribe and spoke their tongue. Due to the language barrier between her character and Mr. Hanks' she really did have to use a lot a skills that most child actors don't have. She has been in about 10 different TV shows or movies at this point. I think that this is really just the beginning for her.

Over all I will be watching this movie again. It was well written, well cast, and very well executed. It was thrilling, sad, and joyous all at the same time. It's a movie that I will be recommending. I look forward to more Tom Hanks film and I now will also be looking forward to more Helena Zengel movies as well.

Tom Hanks Hustle: Greyhound

I was very upset earlier this year because I was really looking forward to this movie and so mad when they pulled it from the theaters. I was even more mad when I found that they put it on AppleTV instead of some other place where I could rent it. However, I ended up getting a free one year subscription to AppleTV this year so I was happy to watch it.

During World War II a convoy of 37 allied ships are crossing the Atlantic to bring much needed supplies to Liverpool lead by the ship Greyhound with commander Ernest Krause. They enter into what is known as the "Black Pit". A three day journey for all of those ships to travel without air cover through territory of known German U-Boats. Trying to out maneuver and destroy the U-boats is no easy feat but they are able to make it through the terrible ordeal. They reach the other allied troops and are able to make the rest of the passage to safety. When told that the ship Greyhound was due for repairs and Krause would be taken off Greyhound and reassigned. It is then revealed that this was the first time in command of a Wartime ship.

It's movies like these that are, very slowly, getting me on board with war movies. I have never really been into them much. However, have to watch so many between watching Best Picture Motives, the 100 Movies in 2016, and all of Tom Hanks' movies I am really starting to see how great they are. I think what I like about the movies I have seen recently is that they are the stories that are not wildly known. They are stories about people who really did make a difference but we never learned their names in school. If they keep making those types of war movies I will be there to watch. I am very excited that I did get to see this movie and I can not wait for Mr. Hanks' next movie.

Tome Hanks Hustle: A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Toward the end of 2018 I heard that Tom Hanks was going to be playing Fred Rogers. At the time I honestly could not believe there was a better person out there to play him.

Then after seeing the trailer I knew they could not have picked a better person! When I was younger I did watch some of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood but not a ton of it. It's really been when I joined facebook and all of the wonderful stored about Fred Rogers started to go viral and I got to see more of the show. I got to know more about him and his life. When I read up more about him and saw the videos all it did was make me wonder why a movie about this man has not yet been done before!

I am very pleased to say that this movie was excellent!

As great as the advertising was the this movie is really failed to mention what the movie was about. Yes, it's about Mister Rogers but not about his life or the work he did, or how he saved PBS. The story is really about Lloyd Vogel. Mr. Vogel was sent by the Magazine he works for, Esquire, to do a segment about heroes. One of the people that they wanted interviewed was Mister Rogers. Vogel got the job because Fred Rogers was the only one person willing to be interviewed by him. Vogel has a reputation for digging up some not great information on the people he was interviewing. He met his match when he met Fred Rogers.

One of the wonderful things that I have read about Mr. Rogers over the years was the fact that he was a hard man to interview. This was because Fred Rogers wanted to get to know the person who is doing the interviews himself so the interviewer became the interviewee. He really did have a heart for people. All people of all the shapes and colors that you can think of not just children.

It was because of this fact of Fred Rogers that the move rally focused on Lloyd Vogel. It was about his work, and family, and his friendship with Fred Rogers. Yes, we did get to learn more about Mr. Rogers but really we got to see how Fred Rogers' friendship changed one man's life during some big changes in his life. Lloyd Vogel just became a father, and he was loosing his father at the same time.

However, meeting Mr. Rogers really helped him to cope with his anger and confusion in a way he never knew how before. This is what Mr. Rogers' show was all about. Showing how we can express our feelings of sadness and anger without hurting those around us. Doing this really helped Lloyd Vogel cope with how to be a father he never really had and for trying to get to understand his father in a way he wanted before he dies.

I was really surprised about how well Tom Hanks did as being Mr. Rogers. It was amazing just how he acts and he really seems to become Mr. Rogers. One of the best scenes in the movie was when he asks Mr. Vogel to have one minute of silence. It really was a whole minute in the movie of where everything became silent. Not just in the movie but the whole theater that I was in with people they all got silent as well. I could not hear anyone take a breathe, no one ate their popcorn, no one talked, whispered or coughed. I have seen many a movie in the theater in my day and extremely few bring an audience into one single moment as a unit as that scene in this movie did. To make everyone pay attention to that moment to that silence was not deafening, it was not uncomfortable. It was warm and hopeful. It was how you would feel if Mr. Rogers was really with you in the moment. It was.... Beautiful.

I have to say that this is one of Tom Hanks' best performances. This is one of the best movies I have seen this year. I would be disappointed if neither the film or Hanks were no nominated for an Academy Award. I guess time will tell for that. I think though this is a film that everyone needs to see and enjoy. Even if you are not really familiar with Mr. Rogers it should still been seen.

Tom Hanks Hustle: Toy Story 4

So, I apparently forgot to review the 4th movie in the Toy Story franchise. It's a Tom Hanks movie and I can't believe that I forgot about it!

Ok...

So there is a reason that it's was forgotten... because it's a forgettable movie. I am not sure why it's was thought necessary to make a 4th movie. Like I did want to know what happened to Bo Peep. I wanted to know she was ok and stuff but I didn't need a whole movie about it.

Then to come to the end of the movie to find that Woody splits with everyone else to go with her! WHY!! We spent 3 movies on the importance of staying together for him to just leave!

Nope. No happy with the movie at all...…..

Tom Hanks Hustle: The Post

This is it folks! The newest film that Mr. Tom Hanks has stared in! One of the best casts in any movie ever that there has ever been and that will ever be again.

Ladies and Gentlemen I give you The Post.

=
When you watch the trailer for this movie you think it's just about the cover-up of what was really going on in the Vietnam War. It's so much more than that though. It's the story of how The Washington Post truly came to be. It was a local paper on the verge of going under when they decide to go public. However, this was also during the time when one of the constitutional rights was on the verge of being controlled totally by the government, The Freedom of Speech. When the top secret papers of the Vietnam War were leaked The New York Times got their hands on it first. When President Nixon found out that they were publishing the secrets that basically Vietnam was a lost cause of a war he got an injunction halting The Times from publishing anymore of the papers. Around the same time, a lead came in and The Post had most of the Pentagon Papers. Now, the trouble becomes if they publish the paper they could destroy the newspaper because they would be in contempt of court or publishing anything that shares a source with The Times, or they could start a small revolution to stand up against the corrupt government.

What is there left to say in the career or Tom Hanks? He has done everything under the son, and yet every role he plays seems to show another side that we have no yet seen. However, the fact that this man was NOT nominated to an Academy Award last year for this role is a crime! I mean not many men in Hollywood can keep up with THE Meryl Streep buy my God he can! The greatness that come the screen with both of them and them playing off each other is like watching swan dance in the moonlight. It's incredible how they work off each other, it's very rare to see two true masters of their craft on the screen doing their best work at the same time.

What I love about both of their performances is that they are both genius at intense quietness. Through the whole movie the stakes are always high, there are 1000 decisions to make in a single second. There is always a underlying of intensity and in any other movie, the stars would have already yelled, screamed, and roared in order to get their point across or to calm down the situation. In this whole movie, neither Meryl Streep or Tom Hanks ever go above a stern voice. There is no yelling, there is no screeching, there is no boisterousness in either of them. They are commanding on the screen without demanding your attention.

The Post has to be one of the most memorable roles in Tom Hanks career. This is one that years from now I will be thinking about the movie, thinking about the roles the both played, and about the subject of this movie. How angry it makes me and how relieved I will be that this cover-up was exposed. This is a topic, the Vietnam War, that I want to look into more for personal reasons and I think that this movie is going to help lead me to some great places to look into for more information.

With that being said. I am cutting it pretty close on watching a blogging about all of these movies, I have 3 hours till it's the New Year, but yet again I am happy that I did the challenge and that I did my Year of Courage Challenge as well. I am very excited to New Year and all of the wonderful things that it has in store for me. However, right now I am going to go an open the bottle of win my mom got me and bring in the New Year!

Happy New Year Everyone and Cheers to a wonderful 2019!!!

Tom Hanks Hustle: The Circle

Down to the final stretch! The Final two movies of my journey this year!

This movie was nothing like I think it was going to be. Really, I had no idea what it was going to be because this was one of those movies that the trailer told you nothing! I just knew that it had Tom Hanks, Emma Watson and John Boyega in it. However, this movie is very interesting. This is about a work community called The Circle. Innovators of the internet if you will. They want to give everyone one place where all their passwords are, to see every event that is going around them and give new ideas for new way of connecting with each other. However, when one of the new guppies almost dies kayaking she is "shown" how wonderful it is to be all sharing, and showing to the internet, and a company, all at one time. She becomes totally transparent and shares almost every second of her life with an ever watching pubic. At what cost with it take for her to never be alone.

Let me start off by saying that the cast was wonderful. Not only did you have the before mentioned actors but I was happily surprised when I found that Karen Gillan was in this movie...

Most of you know her as Nebula from the Marvel films but the truly educated know her first THE Amy Pond from Doctor Who!

Anyways, this film was really entertaining but also very nightmare-ish to say the least. The reason is because this something that we are totally heading to. Everyone everywhere is constantly online. We are on for work, for play, because we are bored, or to show off how happy are lives are, even when we are not. We have to stray relevant because we don't want to slip away into obscurity. For many obscurity is worse than being dead. We give ourselves crazy rules that we "have" to live by like changing our profile picture to match the season we are in, or waiting to post something until a certain time of day because it will get more likes. Then there is this whole culture of "getting over" someone, friend or romantic, and we make certain post public on the chance that the person you are "over" sees it and sees that you are doing fine without them. When in all reality if you were over them you would not have posted the damn thing in the first place cause it wouldn't have mattered that much.

Yeah, I know ranting again... but it's the truth. We would rather live through our fake personas online than actually live your live in real time. Take for instance a selfie, or any picture really, it take about 3 seconds to pull out your phone, find the app and take the picture. Now, my question is how long does it to post it? For me 1 minute, as long as I have good service. It takes me no more than 1 minute to pull our my phone take a picture and post on facebook. However, most people are not like me. They want to add filters, captions, stickers, then they think about it for 10 minutes cause they want the picture IN THEIR HEAD to look like the one they just took. How much time and how many more pictures could you have taken and been living in the moment if you hadn't edited your face so much that you no longer recognize it and then don't post the picture because "it wasn't good enough".

There are those who are trying to do what Emma Watson in The Circle does and show every minute of their life online for everyone to see. What we learn though is that there is no privacy in that. When you have no privacy you think it won't effect others but it will. If you can never have a private moment then no one will have a private moment with you. Your late night talks with Best Friends or Spouses will stop, your moments when you want to randomly cry. Moments when you find that loves ones have passed, or when you just want to sit in silence and do nothing without being judged will not longer be there.

Yet, this movie does something when you first watch it. It's a brilliant move really. They show you the great side to being like that. They show you the beauty or being totally transparent. The man in charge is played by Tom Hanks. He tells Watson that his son, in the movie, has Cerebral Palsy and can no do thinks like go kayaking, or climbing Mount Everest. Yet, he can feel like he is there when one of the Circlers  does those things and film it. Look how much beauty and wonder can you bring to those who can't do the same things for whatever reason. Why would you want to deny someone the same beauty that you see just because your alone.

Lord let me tell you it almost had me saying that this was a good idea.

Tom Hanks. The man who has very rarely played the bad guy in his career is playing one now. However, it's brilliantly done because you don't know if he really is a bad guy or what plans he has for The Circle, you just know there is something about him that you don't fully trust. It drives me nuts that his plans were never fully uncovered in the movie. The fact that Mr. Hanks can make you want to trust him so much yet want to run at the same time is one of the rare things you have seen in Actors at any point in time during history. Most of the time you hate the bad guy so much that you love to watch him. You don't want to trust them or do anything with them but you love hating them. Mr. Hanks you don't love to hate. You just wish he wasn't evil. This is one of those movie again where Hanks is not in every single scene but he is part of the driving force behind the scene. You constantly wonder if he is watching or what he is doing when he is not there. It's really eerie but its true.

To be honest, because we don't see that much of him in his career I would love to see more movies where is the bad guy. I really don't want to see him being a mass murderer but I would like to see him in more roles like this just because he is so good playing an opposite of himself.

Tom Hank Hustle: Inferno

The movie that I dread....

This is the 3rd movie of the Da Vinci Code.

Look, I did not like the first two movies in this series. I did not want to watch this last one. This just like that everything changes. Out of these three movies this had to be the best one! The plot was interesting from begging to end. The character were easy to follow, and so was the dang puzzle. That was one of the big problems in the first two films. You could get so easily lost in the puzzle and all of the side stories that you forgot what was going on. However, this one was very interesting. The only problem that I had with it was the love story with Hanks. It felt a little forced and out of place. Like it was thrown in to give the plot more depth but I felt that it didn't really add anything to the story. You could have taken it out and the movie would have ended just the same.

I would not mind watching this one again. It won't be first on my list but I would watch it again.

Tom Hanks Hustle: Sully

Ah, Sully. This is one movie I was really ready to revisit. I remember that I enjoyed the film in 2016. Since it had been a while so I was excited about it again.

Famed for saving 155 souls on the fateful airplane. Sully goes through the trial of that 208 seconds that he was in the air.

You know there are some movies that you enjoy or love when you first watch them. Then after some time apart you watch it again and you realize just how awful the movie really is. This is not that movie. I really enjoyed the first viewing of the movie but the second time around I found that I love it even more. The performance of Mr. Hanks in this film has to be one of his best. I would love to know what he does to really get to understand the people he is playing and the issues that they go through. I love the story or this film. Now just about the forced water landing, but the story that happens after. Most stories really focus on the actual event and then touch on the aftermath. This film does it differently. They focus on the trail that followed and, to give reference, they went back and showed the accident. They all know why they are there but it's important to note that they all went through one of the scariest things in their lives and now defend every action that they took. They have to prove that what they did was right. Yes, they saved everyone on board but could they have saved the plane?

This is a movie that I think will be an understated classic one day. It's gonna be one of those movies that someone is going to come across when they come across Mr. Hanks' career. They will watch it and know a wonderful story and the man who brought it to life.

Tom Hanks Hustle: A Hologram for the King

This is the movie that I really wanted to watch again but also really didn't want to. When I first saw this movie is was in 2016 during my crazy movie year. The day I saw it I had just found out my cousin, Dean, had died in a car accident. I didn't know how to process my emotions so I went to movies.

This movie is about a man who is at his whit's end. He is recently divorced, trying to put his daughter though school, hating his job, and just feel lost overall. He thinks that if he can get his company this deal for a working hologram meeting technology for the King of Saudi Arabia that it might turn his life around.

The reason that I say that this movie helped be to process my emotion was because my cousin died very unexpectant and very young. I had just love my grandma a few weeks before and was trying to understand that when this happened. To this day I can not speak about that tragedy for very long because I breakdown at the unfairness of it all.

Anyways, Feeling that much anger, hurt, confusion, pain, sorrow, worry and all the emotion that come with death I didn't know how to deal with it. I could not keep my mind on one thing about it enough to process anything really. I wanted to scream, cry, hit something or someone, be angry but I could not stick with one emotion long enough to really deal with any of them. My grandma's death wasn't this bad because I thought it might be coming soon because she wasn't in the best health in her final years, and because of her age, and just because sometimes you know it's going to come sooner rather than later. With a death like Dean's it was so out of the blue and such a different type of sorrow. With my grandma I could be at peace that she was not longer suffering or in any sort of pain. I was sad but I could accept her death as her time to go. Dean's was not. His was unnecessary, cruel, unthinkable, and most of all preventable. Totally unfair in every single way.

I had already planned to see this movie before I found what happened. I went to church and I came home and mom told me. I knew that he died in a car crash and I didn't want to know anymore. My parents didn't know I didn't want to know the details. They found out over the phone with my uncle and my dad said it out loud. I ran downstairs and sobbed. I didn't want that imagine in my head but I had it now and it just made me so much more angry.

After I got my self under enough control to be able to do more than just cried I told mom I was going to the movie. I needed to not be around anyone, I needed to not have to think about it if I didn't want to. I didn't want to have to walk away from my parents every time my uncle called. I just didn't want it. I wanted time to breathe. So, I carried on and went to the movie. I didn't kow that it was going to help me in such a huge way. The fact that the character the Mr. Hanks plays in the film is going through very real and painful changes in his life and is feeling a lot of the emotions I was and trying to hide it made for a good film, and healing process for me.

When you are making a film you can have real human emotions but you can't have them all at once or you can't understand the movie. How you layer the film to build off of the current emotion you are showing and the previous emotions shown in the film can really make or break the soul of a movie. This film did it beautifully. We were able to feel the stresses that Mr. Hanks was going though and remember them and kept building a beautiful picture of how he was sorting it all out. In the movie theater that day I was able to forget what happened but was allowed to feel the what the film wanted me to feel in the moment. Because I was giving time to feel and process the emotion watching the movie I felt so much more in control, and at peace with what was going on, than I did when I walked in.

Because I was at a crazy emotional mess when I saw this film I wanted to watch it again to see what I missed, and I didn't because I didn't want to have the same level of emotions that I did that day. However, I am glad I watched it. It really was as good as I remember from the first time and I was able to enjoy it more not being as emotional. It's not the craziest role he has ever done but I think it is one of his more meaningful roles.

Tom Hanks Hustle: Bridge of Spies

The next film on our list continues to show how well Mr. Hanks can turn into anyone he wishes.

In the mist of the Cold War spies are being sent out by both the Soviet Union and the US. When Rudolf Able is arrested in New York for being a spy James B. Donovan is selected to be his lawyer. When the rest of the country just wants to sentence him to death and be done with it Donovan sees that his arrest was not conducted correctly and tries to really fight for him. However, this doesn't work for the judge thinks like the rest of the country. A few years last the CIA is on a secret mission of their own. When the plane is shot down over the USSR the piolet doesn't do what he is told, kill himself, and rather takes to being captured. He is sentenced to 10 years in confinement in the USSR. However, everything changes when Donovan is sent a letter from the government that the USSR would like to make a trade of spies.

When this movie first came out I really wanted to see it buy never really got the chance. Right before I saw the movie my mom said she saw it and said it was good. That is impressive coming from her! So, I was excited to watch. I loved how dramatic this movie felt without going over the top. Mr. Hanks also does a good job in his role. He knows that that goal of the film is to tell about the situations that happened along with the characters. This is one of the most interesting films I have seen so far. It was a smart write and cast and they really handled the film beautifully.

Tom Hanks Hustle: Captian Phillips

We have been on many adventures with Mr. Hanks this year but nothing quite like this.

The story of Richard Phillips, a Captain of a cargo ship, traveling though dangerous waters. His ship is taken over by pirates and must do everything in his power to save the ship and his crew.

This is an amazing movie that is based off of a true story. The fear that these men faced, and survived, in crazy. The fact that they spent days hiding from and avoiding pirates is amazing.

This movie is thrilling and keeps you on the edge or you seat but the best bit of acting that comes from Mr. Hanks in this during the end. that really has to be some of his best work, and I have seen most of it this year.

Tom Hanks Hustle: Saving Mr. Banks

Mr. Hanks has been very good at biographical roles so far in his career. However, we are getting into some territory that, for some, would be a very dangerous undertaking. Walt Disney has always been a man who has touched all of our lives some way or another. He is very much larger than life, the man has his own world for Pete's sake. So, taking on Walt Disney is very tricky and you have to tread very carefully.

P.L. Travers is best known to the world as the woman who put Marry Poppins on paper. For 20 years Walt Disney has done everything in his power to take Ms. Poppins from the paper to the Silver Screen. For fear that he beloved Marry is going to be turned into something she doesn't recognize she refuses to give him the rights to her book. Now, she is at the end of her money and needs anything she can get. She caves and goes to meet with Disney and see if they can find a way to bring Ms. Poppins to life in a way that has never been done before.

Like I said taking on the role of THE Walt Disney is something that can be very challenging. However, there is something about Mr. Hanks that as soon as he chooses to become the a certain person he makes you believe it. I hold Mr. Disney in a special place in my heart because, yes, I grew up with his movies but I also share a birthday with the guy. We were both born on December 5th. The people we hold has heroes it's very hard to allow anyone to play them on the screen. I love Mr. Hanks I really do but I was even a bit apprehensive when I first saw this movie.

However, in true Mr. Hanks charm, he wins you over immediately. As I have grown up I have hear that there are very good things and very bad things about Mr. Disney. It breaks my heart some of the things that have been said because he is a hero of mine and I don't wish to imagine him in such ways. However, you have to see that he is human too. Mr. Hanks is able to bring a humanity to Mr. Disney yet be able to portray Mr. Disney in the same light I always wish to see him. A man who loves kids, movies, his family, and his work. A gentle man who wants to being good into the world.

It's roles like these that make me love Mr. Hanks even more. His ability to do what he does on the screen is crazy good. To think that we still have many more roles with him portraying other heroes on the screen coming up soon. You can do the man does his research and really wants to get the intention of each person he plays correctly. Just like Mr. Disney does with his charters on the screen as well.

Tom Hanks Hustle: Cloud Atlas

At the beginning of the year I posted the video on Tom Hanks with James Corden doing all of Tom Hanks' movies. When we got to Cloud Atlas Mr. Corden started to say that it was a hard movie to follow and Mr. Hanks said it needed repeat viewing. This made me very excited and very nervous at the same time.

This movie, to be put as simply as possible, is about 6 different stories, in different times in history, and how the touch and shape the lives of the other stories as they go on.

That is really the best way I can explain this movie without telling everything that happens. This movie is like the movie Inception in the fact that if you are not paying attention 100% of the time you get confused, lost, and basically have no idea what is going on and have to start the film all over again.

What makes this film unique is how the story is told. You would think that saying 6 different stories over 500 years time you will go through them in chronological order and see how they all connected. They didn't do that for this film. All of the stories where told at the same time. Which was astonishingly beautiful. The writers and the editors were somehow able to give all the stories enough detail to be told. They were able to have all of the stories hit sad moments and suspenseful moments at the same time. Doing this allowed you to move fluidly between all of the stories without having to change emotional gears.

What was also very impressive about this story is that there are about 10ish people in the whole film. Almost every actor that stars in this film end up in every story playing a different character. Mr. Hanks himself plays 6 roles and he is NOT the same person in all of them. Sometime he is the bad guy, sometime the good, sometime he is the story, others he is a small but pivotal role. This is a fantastic movie for all of the actors in the film to really show off their acting skills. You would think that would be something that would distracted you the whole movie but it really doesn't. How the whole movie is designed leaves me in awe. They could have just done one scene wrong, or line wrong, or one anything wrong and it would have totally thrown everything off track up it truly didn't. This is a film that really could have gotten away from the actors, the directors, editors, costumes, but nothing did. They kept it straight all the way though and kept it enjoyable.

What I really love about this movie is that I watched it 24 hours ago and I am still thinking about it like I am still watching the film. There is so much depth in this movie that Mr. Hanks is right, it does need repeat viewing. I just loved how it shows that something anyone does today, can cause a ripple effect through time. That someone who wrote a biography inspired someone hundreds of year later to write a song, who inspires someone to keep going, to inspire someone else to speak the truth that keeps going to convince someone else to start again. I don't think many of us think that simple things in our lives can touch so many people and cause such a big change. Right now I don't think anyone is really interested in what I have to say about movies, or about anything but I don't know really. Maybe someone years from now will come across this blog and like it enough to try something of their own. Or my great great grandchildren will want to know more about me and happen to find this online and get a look inside my head for a little while.

This movie shows that all of our lives intertwine in such a way we will never fully be able to comprehend. I think that is one of the most beautiful things about life itself.

Tom Hanks Hustle: Extreamly Loud and Incredibly Close

The darkest day in recent American history was September 11, 2001. Anyone who was alive that day knows it and knows it all too well. I myself was in Mrs. Williams 4th grade class on that day. Ten years after the darkest day the movie Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close came out.

This story takes place a year after the events of 9/11. In the perspective of a young boy who sees the world differently than the rest of us. He tries to answer questions that we still have not figured out which is simply why. Oskar's father always did scavenger hunts. His father always went big on them and made Oskar follow clues all over the place. A year after 9/11, Oskar finds a key inside of a vase. He believes that his father left him the clue in order to find answers to impossible questions. The only clue is that the envelope in the vase says "Black" on it. Leading to look up every single person with the last name Black in New York reported in the last census. Leading to a journey of healing, not only for Oskar and his family, but for a city still grieving the events of a year earlier.

This movie hurts to watch in a good way. I am not even going to even try to imagine what someone who lost someone in 9/11 or who lived in New York during the time. I can't believe that anyone who was alive and witnessed the news during that day can say there where not effected in some wat. It was a time of great sorrow, of confusion, but the stories or people, of life, of hope, of togetherness that I have gotten to hear after have been amazing. This move, in a small way, shows the hope that comes out of that fear. It shows who people are willing to help each other heal.

I could keep going but I will get to the reason why this movie was watched in the first place.

When I was looking up Mr. Hanks' movies I found that I came across a few titles that I was not sure if he started in. Most he has in a few there have only been a few minutes of. So, I either did not watch them or I watched them and did not write about them cause he was not in them enough. Mr. Hanks' is not the main star in the movie. He is in, but not for very much of the them film. The reason I am still writing about this film is even though he is not the main star, he is the driving force behind the movie.

He is the reason why Oskar goes on this adventure. He is the reason why this particular story is taking place. He is the reason that we gets to see so many people of New York and see how it has thrived  since the events.

In the number of movies that I have seen from all different years, different genres, different topics... I do not recall any movie having a star being such a driving force off the screen than on. I will say that it's very impressive that Mr. Hanks was able to portray so much faith, so much hope, so much emotion in a character so very little seen on screen. It's amazing to watch really. It's amazing how much love is shown from this lost father through the whole movie.

It's simply an amazing film of love, kindness, and the power we have as humans to heal in so many more ways than we could have possibly ever think. It shows how resilient we are as a country and as individuals. It's shows that sometime the best thing we can do for one another is a small gesture, like answer a knock on a door, can bring such lasting impact on our lives.
